I have been reflecting on the words of Jesus when he was approached by the Pharisees as to why he healed on the Sabbath. Jesus' response to them was "I only do what I see my Father doing." It was something where He was led by what He saw God doing, what He heard Him saying.
How often do we lives our lives, going to work, going to school, caring for our ministries, just out of duty and service? How many times do we do what we do throughout our day without even asking "God, what are you up to right now? What is your will for this moment? What are you doing that right now, that I might join with you?"
Jesus was born, lived, breathed, died and resurrected all because it was something that was birthed in the heaven, in the heart of God, in the intention of God the Father. He lived his life from heaven to earth. Best of all, it was at the heart of the Father where there was a love of His son, that He desired His creation to encounter Him. It was in love that the Father shared with His son all that He had for Him when he walked the earth.
All that He touched, all that He healed, all that He spoke to and shared time with, were because there was something from Heaven that needed to come down and manifest itself as love. Whether it was the healing on the Sabbath, the woman at the well, Jesus spitting into a bling man's eye or even the water turning to wine at the wedding, it was all birthed out a love found in the heart of God. This is at the center of the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus preached—intently waiting on the Father, to be led by Him and His Spirit.
I would like to encourage us to seek the kind of intention that looks to see what the Father is saying, waiting to see what He is doing. I hope and pray that people we oversee would see what a life intentional waiting and listening can look like.
